May 2009. This tour lets you visit the incredible religious sites of
Istanbul, Troy Ephesus and Bursa; combined with an out of season visit to the
battlefields of the Gallipoli Peninsula. There will be an opportunity to
extend and take in the other religious sites in Turkey.

5 May 2009 - Istanbul
Arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. You will be met and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

May 2009 - Istanbul
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a free day for personal activities. In the evening we depart from the hotel for a cruise on the Bosphorus by private Motor yacht. During the cruise you will have the opportunity to admire the old wooden houses (yalıs) and the Fortresses of Rumeli and Anadoluhisarı.
We have dinner together before returning to our hotel. (BD)
7 May 2009 - Istanbul
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards departure from the hotel for a full day city tour - visit the highlights of Istanbul. The Blue Mosque, famous for its six minarets and blue Iznik tiles, then visit the Saint Sophia, originally a Byzantine Cathedral converted into a mosque after the conquest of Istanbul and later into a Museum. Next stop will be to the Underground Cistern. We then move to the Topkapi Palace for lunch and Palace visit. In the afternoon we visit the Bazaar. The dinner will be on your own.

8 May 2009 - Istanbul - Gallipoli
We say farewell to Istanbul as we drive out
to the Gallipoli Peninsula. We will enjoy lunch at Gelibolou on the shores of the Dardanelles prior to heading up to Chunuk Bair for our ground brief and strategic brief. Following those initial presentations we will proceed to our accommodation for a well deserved pre-dinner drink. Dinner at the hotel.

9 May 2009 - Gallipoli
The Battlefields, where we visit Anzac Cove, Shrapnel Valley and Plugges Plateaux. Following lunch at Kum Camp we return to the Battlefields for presentations at Suvla Bay, the Nek, Quinn’s Post, 4th Bn Parade Ground (which was the assembly area for the assault on Lone Pine) and Lone Pine itself. Dinner at the hotel.

10 May 2009 - Gallipoli
Today we return to the Battlefields where we visit the landing sites at Cape Helles and also view the area of the initial Naval Battle. In the afternoon we visit Legendary Troy prior to returning to our hotel for another well deserved pre-dinner drink. Dinner at our hotel. (BLD)
11 May 2009 - Istanbul - Gallipoli
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. then depart from the hotel and drive to Istanbul. We arrive in Istanbul by lunch time, lunch on your own and rest of the day at leisure. PM transfer to the airport for your homebound or onward flight.

11 May 2009 - Gallipoli – Pergamum – Kuadasi
After breakfast we leave the Peninsula and drive to Pergamum. Visit the Asklepion, the Zeus Altar and the Red Basilica. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
After lunch drive to Kusadasi. Dinner at the hotel. (BLD)
12 May 2009 - Kuadasi
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel for the Ephesus tour. Visit the ruins of the antique city, the Basilica of Saint John, the House of the Virgin Mary and The Archaeological Museum. Lunch will be served during the tour. Dinner at the hotel.

13 May 2009 - Kuadasi - Bursa
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Depart from the hotel and drive to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. Lunch will be served at the Kebab House. After lunch we visit the Grand Mosque, the Green Mausoleum and the silk bazaar. Dinner at the hotel.

14 May 2009 - Bursa - Istanbul
Buffet breakfast at the hotel, then depart from the hotel and drive to Istanbul. We arrive in Istanbul by lunch time, lunch on your own and rest of the day at leisure. Dinner on your own.

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Morning free time to buy those last souvenirs, then…transfer to the airport for your homebound or onward flight .

Booking Terms and Conditions

1. GENERAL This tour has been prepared
by Military History Tours, an affiliate of Travel Business Services (TBS).
2. Travel Business Services (TBS), urges you to read the booking terms and conditions and contact us or your travel agent if you need any clarification. At the time of
publishing this on the internet, the arrangements outlined in it, the price and the inclusions were all confirmed. However, TBS reserves the right to make amendments to the program and the price, should conditions beyond the control of TBS change.
3. DEPOSITS A deposit of AUD $250.00 per person is required to secure a booking on
the tour.
4. BOOKINGS Bookings can be made direct with TBS, or through your local travel agent. If your travel agent is not aware of this program, have them contact us and we will provide them with the details they require. The registration form enclosed must reach TBS, together with the deposit, to secure a reservation.
5. FINAL PAYMENT & CANCELLATIONS Final payment will be required by 30
November 2008. Any cancellations prior to this date will be entitled to a full refund. After 30
November 2008, cancellation will attract a 50% cancellation fee, and after 28 February,
2009, no refund will be applicable. You should consider insurance if you believe you may have to cancel arrangements close to these dates.
6. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
If you are travelling on an Australian passport, you will not need visas to
visit Turkey or Greece. However, we recommend that your passport has a minimum of 6 months validity at the time of your departure from Australia.
If you are travelling on other than an Australian passport you should check with your travel agent or TBS on the requirements.
7. ACCOMMODATION All hotels used in this both tours are 3 star standard.
They are located at Istanbul and Chanakale (a short ferry ride across the Sea of
Munmora from the Gallipoli Peninsular, and a few kilometres from Troy).
8. CHILDREN & INFANTS No deposits are required for children under 12 years of age. However, they should be detailed on the registration form so that appropriate accommodation is provided. The cost for children and infants, under 3, will be provided on request.
9. SPECIAL REQUESTS Should you have special food requirements, a disability that will require special handling, or if you require a smoking or non smoking room, or any other need, please detail it on the registration form. Most accommodation in
Turkey has a lot of smoking rooms, but we will allocate rooms with non smokers together when designated non smoking rooms are not available.
10. INSURANCE It is not acceptable for TBS to accept people on its tours who are not holding appropriate travel insurance. You should discuss the best for you with your travel agent or TBS prior to departure.
11. INCLUSIONS & EXCLUSIONS A list of the inclusions and exclusions
is detailed above. If you are not certain of anything, clarify with your travel agent or TBS.
12. TOUR CANCELLATION TBS reserves the right to cancel this tour
at any time prior to commencement should booking numbers be insufficient to
cover costs. Should the tour be cancelled subject to this clause, all
payments made to TBS will be refunded.
13. SUMMARY TBS has run battlefield tours for nearly 20 years. If you join
this tour, TBS guarantee that should you have a specific Australian grave site to visit for family or other reasons, and providing it is registered with Australian war graves, we will make sure you visit the site and have time to lay a wreath or poppy.
14. LAW OF CONTRACT The contract for the "Gallipoli"
tour is governed in all aspects by the law in the state of NSW and any legal action arising under the contract shall be litigated only in the appropriate court having jurisdiction in that state.
15. TRAVELLING WITH MEDALS
For those who wish to display their own or a relative's medals when showing
their rspects, the airline security situation must be recognised. Due to the
pin at the rear of all medal displays, it is no longer possible to carry them as hand
luggage and they must be deposited in your main luggage (cargo hold bag). Valuable original medals in your cargo hold bag could be
lost. Insurance can cover the cost to replace your clothing, not your
great grandfather's original World War 1 medals. It is recommended that
you purchase a duplicate set, and put it in your cargo hold bag.
Leave your valuable original medals at home.
